| Gilberto received
his Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry and worked as a chemist for a
U.S. analytical laboratory before returning to Costa Rica. He
has held managerial positions in fertilizer and wood-coating manufacturing
plants.
More recently, Gilberto has been devoted to teaching undergraduate
and graduate chemistry and academic research.
